In a new video, he analyzes the latest episode of House of the Dragon and discusses, among other things, the battle between the Brackens and the Blackwoods:
A battle that we do not get to see at all
The battle for the burning mill is a fight between the Brackens and the Blackwoods. As Marco explains right at the beginning of the video, this is a battle that we do not actually see. We see the aftermath, but as with Game of Thrones, not only the warfare is relevant to win a war.
The series also plays with the reasons for the war, as the long history and the reason for the quarrel are long forgotten. The episode revolves around the considerations of who is the villain
. Last episode it was the Brackens, this episode it is rather the Blackwoods.
Cole must now lead the war for Aegon, no matter what guilt he hides. Marco here shows that the cut reveals exactly that he is suffering. The series also changes the character of Gwayne Hightower. In the books, he rode out with Cole, but in the series, he is the guard.
The burning mill is the symbol of the impending war and the upcoming bloodbath. Some characters are already aware of this. To protect the legacy of the Targaryens, Rhaenyra must protect her descendants.
Daemon and his visions
Aegon II wants to find himself. There is nothing left of the man who wants to be loved. He wants to be feared. For this, he takes his father’s armor: The conqueror, whose dream was old Valyria. At the same time, according to Marco, the armor is just a facade to hide the lies and doubts.
Aegon is increasingly falling into distrust towards his own advisors. His own troops are already the symbol of his poor leadership qualities, and even his hand doubts him.
Marco explains that Harrenhal seems to be cursed. Since Game of Thrones, we know that the rulers of the fortress all died a horrible death. This could very well apply to House of the Dragon as well. Because even Daemon, the conqueror of Harrenhal, is afraid.
With Daemon, we also see the typical visions and the guilt that weighs on him. The sins of the past are integral parts of his visions. Marco also mentions the words: You will die on this place
