Players could hardly wait to jump from the Battle Bus in Fortnite: Battle Royale as soon as it reached land. That is likely to change now, as Epic has given the bus a speed boost.
What exactly does the Battle Bus do in Fortnite: Battle Royale? The bus flies over the map of Fortnite to bring players to their desired position. Until now, most players jumped off as soon as land was reached. This was because many found the Battle Bus too slow; they wanted immediate action and didn’t want to cruise over the map for too long.
Why is a slow Battle Bus a problem? When many players jump to nearby areas at the beginning, it leads to immediate conflict with significant casualties. Many players are consequently sent back to the lobby, thinning out the player base.

A Redditor presents a solution: A post from Redditor Ringrar about this issue quickly gained significant attention and did not go unnoticed by Epic. His argument: While many players want to target areas far from the Battle Bus, it simply takes too long.
Players want to jump straight into the game, gather loot, and fight battles. This is not possible with a slow Battle Bus. The Redditor had a solution ready as well: Just make the bus faster!
Eric Williamson, Design Lead at Epic, noticed the post and replied simply, “Yeah, we might look into that.” Less than 24 hours later, Epic posted this tweet:
Battle Bus now 25% faster: Not even a day later, Epic introduces a change in the game that significantly speeds up the Battle Bus. This should allow for the following:
- Players reach the places they want to fly to faster without suffering a significant time disadvantage
- The player base will spread more widely across the map, which benefits the midgame, as more players stay alive longer. A criticism that has been simmering in the community for months.

Epic once again proves its closeness to the community. They have shown time and again that they respond promptly to the wishes and concerns of the community and implement corresponding patches into the game.
For several months, you can thank the bus driver of the Battle Bus with the press of a button. This is also necessary, after all, the poor guy has to put up with a horde of quirky skins and the same music all the time. Now you have one more reason to thank him!
What do you think of the change? Just right? Or unnecessary?
