The actress Natalie Dormer (42) played the role of Margaery Tyrell in the series “Game of Thrones” and has remained in the memory of many viewers. However, her ending in the show in season 6 did not suit her at all; her death was frustrating. She wanted to prevent her death, but no one believed her and she was powerless.

How does she die in the series? In season 6, Queen Cersei blows up the Sept in King’s Landing in a spectacular coup, killing the Sparrows movement and the High Sparrow. This previously prohibited ecclesiastical-military order had been allowed again by Cersei herself because she thought the church would be easy to control, but the order spirals out of control. The problems escalate beyond Cersei’s capabilities.
Margaery Tyrell dies as collateral damage in the explosion of the Sept, which Cersei accepts, as the young queen was already a thorn in her side.
Margaery is the only character in the Sept who draws the right conclusions from Cersei’s absence at a trial and realizes that Cersei is planning an attack. However, the High Sparrow, the only one who could arrange for an evacuation, hesitates.
This is what the actress says about her death: In an interview on YouTube, Dormer says she was frustrated that this was how her character died in the series. She wished for “more”.
But somehow this frustration fits, as her character was just as frustrated in the situation.
Because Margaery realized what Cersei was planning and tried to warn everyone, but she was so frustrated with the character played by Jonathan Pryce [the High Sparrow] that the actress’s frustration matched that of the character.
The explosion vindicated Margaery because she had known it all along. Therefore, Dormer also felt she could let her go.
Is there still hope for Margaery? The book Margaery
is still alive. Perhaps George R.R. Martin has planned a different fate for her. In the show, the endings of many characters – and the ending of the entire show – were unsatisfying. Once the showrunners had no novels as a basis for the series, the quality of the story dropped significantly.
Perhaps Margaery will get a more worthy ending.
How would she have liked to die? In an earlier interview, Dormer explained that if her character had to die, it should be by a dragon; that would have been fitting.
