Rank 6: Men
- Known representatives: Boromir, Aragorn
- Races: Easterlings, Rohirrim, Haradrim, Dúnedain
Men are a relatively young race in Middle-earth. They are somewhat mockingly referred to by the Elves as latecomers or descendants. Overall, men are rather average in many things. They do not live very long and are hardly resistant to diseases. They are neither particularly strong nor overly clever.
Despite everything, men spread enormously quickly and soon formed the largest race in Middle-earth. They settled in various corners of the continent, which led to the formation of different tribes. The Dúnedain from the island of Númenor were endowed with exceptional strength and longevity. However, many did not survive the fall of Númenor, resulting in hardly any descendants in Middle-earth. A well-known example here would of course be Aragorn.
Apart from the Dúnedain, there have always been great warriors among men. However, they cannot keep up with the average strength of a dwarf or the agility of an elf. Men are, on one hand, very adaptable but also susceptible to the temptation of evil powers.
