Rank 7: Trolls

Trolls also belong to the army of evil. Melkor, the ultimate lord of evil, created them long ago to mimic and mock the Ents. Compared to the Ents, trolls are quite dumb and clumsy. Nevertheless, they are enormously large and strong, making them dangerous foes in battle.
Differences also exist in the specific sub-type. The most famous are probably the Stone trolls. Bilbo encounters three of them on his journey but manages to outsmart them. They are vulnerable to sunlight, which turns them to stone.
Cave trolls, on the other hand, have thick scales that protect them from attacks and can even dent swords. However, the strongest and most dangerous are the Mountain trolls. For example, they were used to smash the gates of Minas Tirith with a battering ram.
