Oblex

Oblexes are a type of slime created by Mind Flayers that can attack the minds of other creatures. They feed on the thoughts and memories of their victims and use them to form copies of the bodies of their prey. This helps them to harvest even more victims and thoughts for their masters.
While the biology of the Oblex is grotesque enough, another horror factor lies in the psychology. Perhaps the players are searching for a missing person, perhaps even a friend or family member.
The Oblex could have already devoured the person and is now using their form against the players. Emotional damage is thus inevitable.
