Moonlight Sculptor
What kind of game is this? Moonlight Sculptor is an anime MMORPG from XL Games, the creators of ArcheAge. In this game, you take on the role of six different classes. At the start, you can choose from Alchemist, Archer, Mage, Paladin, and Warrior.
However, there is also a sixth class: the namesake sculptor. Each class unlocks the sculptor during the game and can thus be transformed into it.
With your character, you will then be released into a game world divided into different areas and cities with loading screens. However, you will always encounter other players there.
The MMORPG also offers:
- A story based on the series of books “The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor”.
- Instantiated PvE dungeons
- Housing
- Various crafting content like cooking and fishing
- Weekly PvP tournaments and additional content where you can directly compete with other players
The YouTuber POYSKIE Gaming provides insight into the gameplay of Moonlight Sculptor in this video.
What makes it interesting? Moonlight Sculptor has three interesting aspects.
- First, there is the sculptor class, which is likely to be unique in MMORPGs. This class wields a small hammer and can jump onto large bosses to attack them.
- Then the MMORPG offers the ability to tame animals and make them your companions in the game.
- The third feature is a special offline mode, where you can also farm XP without an internet connection. However, not all content will be available to you then.
This is Moonlight Sculptor at best: A mobile MMORPG with cute anime graphics and at least small innovations. Due to the unique class and the ability to tame animals, it sets itself apart somewhat from other mobile games.
Especially the idea of the offline mode could be well received. Because one does not always have perfect reception or enough data volume to play a mobile MMORPG everywhere and anytime.

This is Moonlight Sculptor at worst: A generic mobile MMORPG, as it, like many others, uses auto-play and even auto-fight. This deters especially Western players.
Additionally, it is currently unclear how the game will be monetized in the West. Pay2Win cannot currently be ruled out.
Will the game also be available for PC and console? According to the official press release, Moonlight Sculptor will only be available for Android and iOS.
