Magic Initiate
- Players Handbook (2024), page 200
- Two new cantrips (from the spell list of the Druid, Cleric, or Wizard)
- One Level 1 spell (from the same spell list): This is always prepared, does not require a spell slot once (until the next long rest), but can be used with a spell slot.
- The chosen spell can be swapped at each level up (but must be from the same spell list)
- The talent can be learned multiple times
As a Magic Initiate, you can fill certain gaps if you have not ventured much into magic due to your class so far. That is perfectly fine; not every fighter or barbarian is interested in this magic “nonsense”… but for those who still want to learn a suitable cantrip for security, or prefer to perform a ranged attack magically instead of with a bow or crossbow, this talent could be exciting.

Because the chosen spells and cantrips can only be chosen from the same spell list, you will be somewhat limited. But you can simply choose the talent again 4 levels later if you get a taste for it.
