Star Trek Online plays a little differently than “traditional” MMORPGs. This is because you not only embody your hero but also steer the ship. As you fly through space, you command the spaceship and even engage in heated space battles. During away missions, you beam down to a planet to explore it, making STO feel more like a classic MMO again. As you progress, you can command increasingly powerful ships.
The developers at Cryptic did a great job with the console version implementation. The controller controls work very well and navigating through the menus is also pleasantly possible. Star Trek Online is expanded with regular updates that continue the story. Funding is done through an in-game shop.
