Ghost Recon Wildlands
One might think that Ubisoft would make self-competition with the newly released online shooter Ghost Recon Wildlands to The Division. However, Wildlands takes a different approach. On the one hand, the extensive MMO part is missing. You are only co-op in the vast open world with three other players. A PvP mode is supposed to be added later.
You can personalize your Ghost based on his equipment. Especially important is the choice of weapon, as it determines what role you take in the team. As a sniper, you cover fire for others or execute assassinations; with a machine gun, you participate more at the front line. You additionally improve the character with 50 skills and decide the direction in which he should develop. However, to improve skills, you need not only EXP but also resources that you must gather in the areas. Vehicles are also very important because they allow you to move faster through the large game world.
Tactical teamwork, completing many missions, a story that guides you through a gigantic game world, and the ability to develop your character individually make Ghost Recon Wildlands an interesting online shooter. However, due to the lack of MMO elements, it does not really compete with The Division and is more geared toward a slightly different gameplay.
These five MMO and online shooters should guide you well through the year 2017. As the genre is so popular, we will likely see other representatives of this gaming genre in the near future.
