The 5 Most Important MMO Shooters in 2017

MMO shooters are very popular. Destiny and The Division attract many players and impress with fast gameplay, but also offer depth like an MMO. We present to you the most important MMO shooters for the year 2017.

MMO shooters represent an interesting mix of online shooters and MMORPG elements. Typically, it is possible to upgrade your character like in a role-playing game, obtain increasingly powerful equipment, and often complete quests that guide the player and their friends through the story.

In many cases, however, you are not adventuring with thousands of other players at the same time, but usually only with a few, though you can meet others in hubs and social spaces. We take a look at which MMO shooters await us this year.

Destiny 2

This year, the developer studio Bungie and publisher Activision want to release a sequel to the popular MMO shooter Destiny. There is not much known about the game yet, except that you will have the opportunity to take over your Guardian, but everything except its appearance will be reset. You will therefore start again from scratch and learn new powers, find new weapons, and explore never-before-seen locations.

There are now some hints that Destiny 2 will also be released for PC. This would make sense in terms of the character reset, as then all players would start with the same conditions. In addition, a constant flow of new content is supposed to be possible in Destiny 2.

So far, not much is known about the story in Destiny 2. Allegedly, the story is supposed to connect to the end of the Destiny 1 expansion “The Taken King” and send you into battle against the Cabal forces, who are attacking the Last City.

Detailed information about Destiny 2 is likely to be expected at the E3 game fair in June. A release of the online game is expected for the fall of this year on current consoles – a PC version is also likely to appear, as already mentioned.
