A short time ago, Star Citizen achieved the milestone of 800 million US dollars in crowdfunding revenue. This is made possible in part by the continuously new spaceships that are sold for real money. In this special, MeinMMO takes a look at the most expensive ships of the SciFi MMO.
Although Star Citizen has still not officially launched after 14 years of development, the MMO continues to enjoy steady millions in revenue in 2025. Recently, it even managed to surpass the historical threshold of 800 million US dollars.
The impetus for the uninterrupted flow of money that continues to this day was the Kickstarter campaign launched in 2012, which aimed to raise 500,000 US dollars but ended up bringing in 2,134,374 million US dollars. Since then, it has primarily been starter packs and spaceships from the store that have been contributing to the cash flow.
The Polaris was introduced in November 2024, is supposed to cost nearly 1,000 euros, and still does not make it into the top 5 of the most expensive ships from Star Citizen. Here is the trailer:
The developers are naturally aware of this and therefore seize every opportunity to offer new spaceships or special variants of well-known ships at sometimes enormous prices, and in return, remove older ships from the store. Rank 5: Idris-P
- Price: 1,500 euros
- Ship Type: Frigate (Combat)
- Size: Capital / 240 meters long
- Crew: Maximum 28 people
The Idris-P is a slightly more expensive version of the Idris-M, which costs 1,000 euros and is more suited for military operations. The P variant does not include “ship-to-ship guns” and the spine mounts instead features increased cargo capacity and speed.
The frigate is currently not available in the Star Citizen shop and is still in the production and testing phase before being implemented into the game. The last update apparently occurred three months ago.
