Dance at Castle Nathria
Also from Shadowlands, but from an earlier raid tier, comes the infamous dance floor from Castle Nathria. In the fight against the three Venthyr from the Council of Blood, there are recurring little dance interludes where the entire raid must prove that they have rhythm in their blood – or at least must follow clear instructions.
The task is relatively simple in theory: Each character is assigned a starting position, which is clearly marked. After that, the boss begins to give a dance sequence: “Step forward!”, when you need to step forward or “Turn left!”, when you need to step left.
For each successfully performed dance step, there was a stackable buff that drastically increased performance in combat for a few seconds.
If you fail, you are punished with debuffs or in higher difficulties even instantly executed – very appropriate to the shame displayed on the dance floor.
Especially in the first weeks of the raid, it was always amusing to see how many failed at the mechanic and, in contrast to all the NPCs and other players, stumbled onto the wrong areas.
Such “dance” mechanics are essentially developments of the “Heigan Dance” known from Classic – just revealed in a newer, modern, and more amusing design.
