Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
Developer: Moonton | System: Android, iOS | Release Date: July 11, 2016 | Rating: 13 | Payment Model: Free2Play
What kind of game is this? Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a classic MOBA and recalls the layout of the map directly to LoL or Arena of Valor. You take on the role of one of 118 champions and fight with this in 5v5 against another team.
While there are hardly any differences in gameplay compared to the already mentioned MOBAs, visually it relies more on minimalism. The textures are blurred and the animations are more colorful and less detailed.
Nonetheless, Mobile Legends is currently one of the most successful mobile MOBAs on the market. According to AFK Gaming, the game has reportedly been downloaded more than 1 billion times. There have already been e-sports tournaments with prize pools of over 250,000 dollars (via Dotesports).
What do the reviews say?
- In the Google Play Store, the game receives 3.8 stars from 32.4 million reviews
- In the App Store, it has 4.6 stars from nearly 33,000 ratings
The many champions are particularly praised because Mobile Legends offers by far the most from this list. The controls and the gameplay itself also receive good feedback. Additionally, it is emphasized that players who intentionally lose or go AFK are noticeably punished. Several reviews state that they preferred Mobile Legends to the competitor Arena of Valor for this reason.
However, there are criticisms regarding matchmaking, which is said to often lead to unfair duels. Additionally, there are ad insertions that are perceived as annoying. Some also criticize that there may be problems with the German translation and not all content may be localized. Furthermore, new champions are expensive, costing nearly 15 euros and skins for up to 50 euros, although champions can also be earned in-game.
Where can I download it? Mobile Legends: Bang Bang can be downloaded from the Play Store and from the App Store.
Who should play it? Anyone looking for a Wild Rift with a larger selection of heroes and an already existing e-sports scene might find a potential alternative in Mobile Legends.
Additionally, the game has somewhat lower requirements for smartphones, which may be interesting for users of older devices.
