Conscript is a horror survival game on Steam, aiming to instill fear through the horror of World War I. The game consciously avoids monsters and other frightening figures.
What kind of game is it? The horror survival game Conscript takes place in the trenches of Verdun during World War I. As a lone soldier in search of his missing brother, you must survive the war and its hardships while avoiding enemy soldiers and incoming fire.
Not every encounter can be avoided, and there will always be battles, even if they don’t always involve firearms.
The indie game by Jordan Mochi and Catchweight Studio is set to be released on July 23. You can already try out a demo of the game on Steam.
Here you can watch the trailer for Conscript:
Classic Horror without Zombies
What do you do in the game? As a soldier searching for his brother, you fight your way through the dark trenches and bunkers of World War I. The trenches are like a labyrinth. Progress is not always straightforward; you have to solve puzzles and plan your next steps.
The horror of the game works entirely without zombies, instead being driven by the dark atmosphere as you struggle through the claustrophobic trenches. The end of the adventure could be lurking around any corner, which is why players should act with caution.
Additionally, players must carefully consider which resources to use, as they are severely limited, much like in real war, heightening the tension.
Can you trade? Yes, the few resources you receive in the game can be exchanged. What you loot along the way can also be traded. A pack of cigarettes can quickly turn into a weapon upgrade.
Survival is also key in another horror shooter on Steam. The shooter Hunt: Showdown may soon receive not just an update, but a sequel. You can find out more in our article: Hunt: Showdown is one of the most successful German games on Steam – And a sequel seems to be on the way
