Epic Games has released a new game called Battle Breakers. It is an RPG that is available for PC, Android, and iOS.
What is Battle Breakers? Battle Breakers is the first game that Epic Games has launched since the release of Fortnite in July 2017. According to their own statement, the RPG was developed by a small team at the studio.
Battle Breakers is a turn-based RPG where you destroy crystals to uncover hidden treasures or enemies. Battle Breakers features over 1,000 dungeons and a whole lot of tough opponents to conquer.
Inspired by Pokémon, you can collect hundreds of elemental heroes who will fight alongside you in the dungeons. Battle Breakers embraces a “Saturday morning cartoon vibe,” both visually and in the trailer:
Is Battle Breakers Free2Play? The new RPG is essentially free to play. You can download and play it on PC via the Epic Launcher, on Android smartphones via the Epic Games App, or on iOS via the App Store.
It is financed through a battle pass and a “Hero Store,” where new heroes can be unlocked.
Players have mixed reactions to new Epic game
What do the first players say? While the trailer was positively received by many, the reactions to the actual game are rather mixed.
YouTube user Celestial Grimace writes under the trailer:
The theme sounds like Power Rangers, and I am 100% on board with that. However, I am very disappointed with the actual gameplay and Epic’s preferred monetization model.
Other users on YouTube react similarly:
- SSEEAALL: “Fantastic trailer, then comes the gameplay. A classic mobile game, feels bad.”
- Inkymation: “The theme is the best part of the game, unfortunately. 2/10. Very boring. Even though the art style is beautiful, it is confusing and pay-to-win. The quality is low compared to Fortnite.”
In the App Store, however, the game currently has 13 reviews, all giving the game 5 stars. The good gameplay and the sense of reward are positively highlighted.
At first glance, it seems that Battle Breakers will not be infringing on the throne of Fortnite, which is currently hosting a special Star Wars event.
