Currently, there are over 1,000 Pokémon from nine game generations. With over 1,200 episodes of the anime, it would have been easy for each of these pocket monsters to make an appearance. However, there are many Pokémon that are only seen in the video games, not alongside Ash. MeinMMO lists 11 of the strangest Pokémon that were not featured in the anime.
What criteria were used to sort the Pokémon? The Pokémon in this list were not seen in the original Pokémon anime that follows Ash Ketchum’s journey. The new anime Pokémon Horizons: The Series and the mini-series Twilight Wings are not considered. This list focuses on which Pokémon were never seen with Ash.
The list notably features many Pokémon from Sword & Shield. This is because Ash participated in the Pokémon World Championships at that time, leaving him little opportunity to explore the Galar region (via Screen Rant).
Pescryodon and Lectragon

These two fossil Pokémon are a special case. Depending on the combination players choose, different pocket monsters are created:
- Bird fossil and dragon fossil = Lectragon
- Bird fossil and paddle fossil = Lecryodon
- Fish fossil and dragon fossil = Pescragon
- Fish fossil and paddle fossil = Pescryodon
The Pokémon actually look as if the two fossil pieces were simply glued together. Ash has only encountered two of the four possible combinations. The other two only existed as images and were not seen as living beings in the anime.
Barrakiefa

The water Pokémon is the evolution of Pikuda. The pre-evolution appeared in an episode of the original anime, but Ash never saw the barracuda Pokémon. The design of the Pokémon seems to have been inspired by a barracuda, emphasizing the jaw, which explains the name.
Barrakiefa made an appearance in the mini-series Pokémon: Twilight Wings. The series was only released on YouTube and includes eight episodes, each lasting only five to nine minutes. MeinMMO has picked the relevant episode where Barrakiefa can be seen starting at 4:02.
Klonkett and Wagong

Both Klonkett and its evolution Wagong were not seen in the anime. The two monsters are based on coal and are therefore often found in mines. According to its Pokédex entry, it survives by burning coal. This raises the question of whether it is not itself burned by humans to generate energy.
However, the final evolutionary stage, Montecarbo, was seen. The two pre-evolutions, on the other hand, were only present in Pokémon Horizons. Due to their absence, Ash would never have been able to complete his Pokédex – at least not in the series.
