3. Ego
First appearance: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Who is Ego? Ego is a Celestial, an ancient being that had no solid body. Over millions of years, he developed into a living planet. He sought the meaning of life and created a humanoid body, with which he visited various planets and fathered children.
Since he was disappointed by many beings, he wanted to create a new universe. But for that, he needed another Celestial. He killed all his children except for Peter Quill, as he was the only one with Celestial DNA.
The Guardians could only defeat Ego because Star-Lord at the time had the Celestial powers and they knew that you had to hit his brain to defeat him. If characters like Wanda or Thanos lack this knowledge, it would be almost impossible for them to defeat Ego. Although Surtur would have the power to defeat Ego, he would also need the knowledge.
What abilities does Ego have? As a Celestial, Ego is among the most powerful beings in the entire Marvel universe. His core is surrounded by a self-created planet:
- Superhuman strength, speed, endurance, and reflexes (with his humanoid form)
- He is essentially immortal as long as his core remains unharmed
- He can manipulate cosmic energy, absorbing it and creating forms
- He can manipulate molecules and create various things
- He can manipulate the thoughts of others
- He has a high intellect (via Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki)
