5. Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff)
First appearance: Captain America: Return of the First Avenger (2014)
Who is Wanda Maximoff? Along with her parents and twin brother Pietro, Wanda lived in Sokovia. From an early age, she had an affinity for magic, which was enhanced by Hydra’s experiments after she joined them to take revenge on Tony Stark for her parents’ death.
After the events of Age of Ultron, she joined the Avengers and became a hero who can wield powerful magic. However, her loss in Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War caused her to accidentally trap a town in an illusion with her chaos magic.
After that ended, she wanted to have the family she had in that illusion. She studied the Darkhold, a powerful book of dark magic. The book corrupted her, and she fought against her former friend Dr. Strange.
Wanda already posed problems for Thanos in Infinity War, and after the events of WandaVision and through the Darkhold, she has become even more powerful and can manipulate reality. A fight between her and Thanos would be quite close, which is why ranks 6 and 5 could also be swapped. However, since she was still quite inexperienced with the Darkhold, she does not rank higher.
What abilities does Wanda have? Wanda was born with the ability to use magic, but her powers were enhanced by the Mind Stone. With the Darkhold, her power grew to the point where she became stronger than the Sorcerer Supreme.
