6. Thanos
First appearance: The Avengers (2012)
Who is Thanos? Thanos comes from the planet Titan and was a warlord who conquered countless planets with an army. Some sages who survived his campaigns he adopted and turned them into strong warriors. His goal was to “save” the universe by wiping out half of all living beings. Even if that wasn’t his actual goal originally.
To achieve this, he collected the Infinity Stones and used the Infinity Gauntlet. He managed to do that even though countless heroes stood in his way. Ultimately, the heroes managed to reverse everything, but it came at a cost.
Theoretically, the Infinity Stones offer a power with which Thanos could even be first on the list, but it depends on the battle and who uses which ability, how quickly. We place him at rank 6 since he would struggle against the others without the Stones. The next rankings are quite close together, however.
What abilities does Thanos have? Due to his origins on the planet Titan, he is already quite powerful and has been able to defeat beings like Hulk, Vision, or Thor. In addition, there are other abilities.
- Superhuman strength, speed, endurance, and reflexes
- Self-healing
- He had a significantly longer life expectancy than humans. By the time of the films, he was already over 1000 years old.
- Through the Infinity Stones and the Gauntlet, he became an omnipotent being:
- He was able to outsmart death
- Manipulate time
- Generate energy projectiles
- Manipulate matter, other beings, and reality
- Create illusions
- He is incredibly intelligent
- A master in close combat, both with and without weapons (Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki)
