After over 35 films, some villains from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have made it to the big screen. Some are more powerful than others. We present to you the 10 strongest in the power ranking.
How was this list created? We looked at the various villains from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and created a ranking based on their power and strength. For this list, we only consider abilities and backgrounds that occurred in the MCU, not in the comics. We also exclude series like What If…?
(much to Ultron’s dismay).

The list includes all movies and series released up to the film Thunderbolts in 2025.
Honorable Mentions
The following characters are also extremely strong, but due to various aspects, they did not make it into the top 10.
- Agatha Harkness (powerful witch who acts more in the background)
- Ultron (in the MCU, Ultron has not shown strong powers, in his Infinity Stone version he would be stronger than Thanos)
- Ikaris (the strongest Eternal)
- Death (she would rank first on this list, but we exclude her because she is not a classic villain, but the embodiment of death)
- Cassandra Nova (powerful mutant who has only fought against weaker characters so far)
- Galactus (The film for Fantastic Four has not been released yet, but Galactus would likely deserve a spot on this list)
10. Gorr the God Butcher (with the Necrosword)
First appearance: Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Why is Gorr so strong? Gorr was originally a peaceful man who prayed to Rapu, hoping to help his people in great need. However, when he met Rapu and saw how arrogantly he spoke about the dead of his people, he developed a deep hatred for gods.
When Rapu attempted to kill him, he obtained the Necrosword, which enabled him to kill gods. He began his hunt for gods and earned the name God Butcher. Ultimately, he was defeated by Thor and Jane Foster, but only by appealing to his humanity. After the Necrosword disappeared, Gorr died.
What abilities does Gorr have? Through the Necrosword, Gorr gained several abilities:
- Superhuman strength, endurance, speed, and reflexes
- Self-healing
- The ability to kill gods
- He can summon creatures
- He can teleport through a realm of shadows (via Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki).
