Place 4: Meriadoc Brandybuck
Pippin’s loyal cousin Meriadoc Brandybuck, known as Merry, has always been a particularly brave Hobbit. He often explored the surroundings and even ventured into the Old Forest, which no Hobbit had dared to do before.
Like Pippin, Merry benefited from the physical growth from the Ent-draught. Furthermore, he demonstrated his courage and loyalty on the journey to Mount Doom on multiple occasions.
For example, he was able to convince the Ents to fight against Isengard. Without his intervention, a victory against Saruman would likely not have been possible.
He earned particular recognition in the Battle of the Pelennor. Together with Éowyn, he fought against none other than the Witch-king of Angmar. For his courageous fighting spirit, he was later knighted.
