Place 5: Peregrin Took
Peregrin Took, commonly known as Pippin, was one of the three Hobbits who accompanied Frodo on his perilous journey. When he and his cousin Merry learned about the “One Ring,” they were eager to experience the adventure. Additionally, they didn’t want to leave their best friend Frodo alone. Just for that reason, the adventurous and loyal Hobbits earned a place on this list.
Pippin was the youngest of the companions, often clumsy and perhaps a bit too curious. As a result, he frequently found himself in dangerous situations. However, through his many experiences, he developed significantly.
He not only grew mentally but even physically. Merry and Pippin drank some of Treebeard’s Ent-draught, which made the Hobbits grow several centimeters, allowing them to even surpass the legendary Bandobras Took in height. In the film, they shrink again after a while. However, in the book, they retain their size permanently, giving them an advantage in combat.
Pippin displayed particular strength in the Battle of Morannon. There, he personally killed a mountain troll, a feat that no Hobbit had accomplished before. However, not many have likely tried it. Nevertheless, Pippin showed extraordinary courage and fighting spirit, for which he was later knighted by Gondor.
