Place 7: Lobelia Sackville-Baggins
Lobelia Sackville-Baggins was an unpleasant relative of Bilbo, who was particularly keen on his inheritance. Due to her quarrelsome nature, she was not very popular among the Hobbits.
During Saruman’s reign over the Shire, Lobelia was captured and imprisoned. She was so outraged that she confronted the captain of the troops, who was easily twice her size, with an umbrella. She even insulted the oppressors as “dirty, thieving rascals.” This earned her recognition from the other Hobbits for the first time.
She was particularly affected by the murder of her son Lotho, even though she had never condoned his terrible deeds. After her death, she left all her money to Frodo to help the Hobbits who had lost their homes due to Lotho and Saruman.
Overall, Lobelia Sackville-Baggins was a very special Hobbit lady, whom one would rather not cross. Despite her unique personality, she showed heart and loyalty when it mattered.
