Rank 4: Vilgefortz von Roggeveen

Especially in the books, Vilgefortz is by far the most powerful mage in The Witcher. Even though he is still young for a sorcerer at about 100 years old, he possesses remarkably versatile and deadly powers. He masters teleportation, illusion magic, powerful attack spells, and the manipulation of the elements equally. He is also an excellent close-combat fighter who can hit hard with both sword and staff. In a duel, he seems to effortlessly take on Geralt and even manages to defeat the higher vampire Regis, which should be impossible for a human.
In addition to his direct combat prowess, Vilgefortz is intelligent, cunning, and ruthless. Combined with his combat skills, he is an extremely dangerous opponent that one should not provoke. Unfortunately, like Eredin, he is after Ciri’s Elder Blood, making him a primary antagonist in the story.
