Deep in the swamps of Velen live three old witches, the Muhmen. According to legend, they are three sisters who cursed their own mother and have ruled over the Buckelsumpf alone ever since. Not much is known about the mysterious creatures, but they seem to be incredibly old.
Their power primarily lies in the magic they draw from the water and earth around them. They can predict the future and thus influence the fate of humans. To lure in their victims, who they love to devour, they can transform into attractive young women. Each of the Muhmen also possesses a special ability. The Brewess is knowledgeable about mystical potions, the Whisperer can hear extraordinarily well, and the Weaver crafts magical tapestries.
Overall, the Muhmen are extremely powerful creatures that are not only supernaturally strong and nearly immortal, but also smart and cunning. However, they are closely tied to the swamp they inhabit and therefore a rather local threat.
