The seventh place in this ranking goes rather unspecifically to all researchers and inventors in the wizarding world. This encompasses many different activities:
Some witches and wizards travel the world, conduct research, and gather new information. An example here would be Professor Quirrell, who traveled extensively before his fateful encounter with Lord Voldemort. During his travels, he supposedly encountered creatures such as zombies and vampires.
Alchemists, on the other hand, deal much with the basic elements and the transformation of substances. The most famous example here is of course Nicolas Flamel, who developed the Philosopher’s Stone and thus achieved immortality.
Albus Dumbledore was also a significant researcher in his time. For example, he discovered the twelve uses of dragon’s blood.
How dangerous these activities are varies greatly. However, experimenting with unknown magic is certainly not without risk. Many would surely prefer to avoid an encounter with a hungry vampire.
