Which upcoming MMO or online game will be the highlight for you in 2018? You voted, here are the results!
The gaming year 2018, which has some promising online games on the radar, has begun. Which game are you looking forward to the most this year?
We asked you this question just before Christmas – and you responded eagerly! More than 1000 of our readers participated in the voting, and it now provides a pretty clear result.
In total, 24 MMOs and online games were up for election. These have generated some attention in the past months or even years and have a release or at least an early access or beta version scheduled for 2018.
Rank 1 – Anthem
Anthem, a new shared-world shooter from EA and BioWare, has been chosen by you as the most anticipated online game for 2018. A solid 22% of all votes went to this game, which was first presented at E3 2017 and caused quite a stir there.
Anthem, as a shared-world shooter, follows in the footsteps of Destiny or The Division: You can explore a foreign world with friends, face dangers together, and upgrade your character with loot.
You play as a “Freelancer” – a character who can fly, jump, climb, and dive through the world equipped with a combat suit. Additionally, cool weapons and special abilities can also be integrated into this suit. The game is played from a third-person perspective.
The developers plan for Anthem to be expanded over months and years with updates and DLCs. A journey over 10 years is being discussed.
Update: Anthem is not expected to be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC until Q1 2019. A specific release date is still pending.

Rank 2 – Monster Hunter World
In a proud second place is Monster Hunter World. 14% chose Capcom’s wild monster hunt as their favorite.
With MHW, you don’t have to wait as long as for Anthem. The action RPG will already be released on January 26, 2018, for PS4 and Xbox One. The release of the PC version is planned for autumn.
In Monster Hunter World, you embark on a journey alone or in a group of up to four players to hunt powerful beasts. This way, you improve your hunting skills, enhance your equipment with monster parts, and become the ultimate monster hunter.

Rank 3 – Lost Ark
With 10% of all votes, rank 3 goes to Lost Ark. It is an action RPG for PC, which primarily appeals to fans of Blizzard’s Diablo. The gameplay is very similar to Diablo 3.
In Lost Ark, you explore a huge open game world together with other players, complete quests there, fight monsters, navigate through dungeons and raids, and compete against each other in PvP.
Lost Ark focuses on high-quality graphics, cool effects, and a lot of action. Several classes are available as playable characters.
The development of the MMO has been ongoing for a long time. Beta phases have already taken place in Korea. In 2018, the developers should finally talk about a release and also create opportunities to play a trial version here.
