Crusaders of Light
Friends of World of Warcraft will likely not miss Crusaders of Light when looking for mobile MMOs. The online role-playing game for mobile was published by the Chinese publisher NetEase and is very similar to the MMORPG classic from Blizzard.
WoW on iPhone or iPad
Crusaders of Light is a fully-fledged online RPG in the style of WoW. You create a character from one of three classes. There are Warriors, Rangers, and Mystics. Each of these classes can later develop into one of three specializations. For instance, the Mystic can specialize in the usual DPS Mage, CC effects, or Healing.
Simple gameplay: The skill selection is clear and not too complex. You have a total of six slots for active skills. Two of them are special skills, while the other four can be freely exchanged with other skills from your list. The gameplay in combat runs with the tab-targeting system known from WoW.
Solid MMORPG for On-the-Go
Less grind, more quests: Thankfully, the grind in quests is limited. There aren’t countless “hunt and gather” quests. Instead, you level up quickly through the story quests. The background story and the world are nothing special but solid, WoW-inspired fantasy.
Auto-play is optional: For regular quests, there is an autopilot function where your hero does many things automatically. However, in complex 40-man raids, you should better not rely on this auto-feature.
PvP is also available: If you prefer fighting other players, you have the choice between formats 1vs1, 3vs3, 5vs5, and 25vs25.
Also cool: Crusaders of Light can be played together thanks to crossplay on Apple and Android devices, as well as through the Facebook Game Room.
The cash shop – Pay2Win or fair?
Like in all Free2Play games, there is a cash shop in Crusaders of Light. In it, you can buy gems (for item enhancement) and in-game gold and silver. However, all these things are also available in the game for patient players. So, if you grind long enough, you can get your stuff without spending real money.
However, those who spend real money have gold and gems available much faster and can optimize their heroes accordingly. A clear advantage for real-money players, which Free2Play players can hardly catch up to. Nevertheless, since there is a chance to earn everything in the game without spending money, Crusaders of Light is still not a Pay2Win game.
You can get Crusaders of Light here in the App Store.
On the next page, there’s another elaborate mobile MMORPG for iOS.
