World of Tanks Blitz
World of Tanks is by Wargaming, the creators of the successful PC version with millions of registered players. There is also a successful mobile version of the tank MMO: World of Tanks Blitz.
The Gameplay of World of Tanks Blitz
Tank battles like on the PC: World of Tanks Blitz is similar to the PC version in terms of gameplay. You choose a tank from a wide selection of vehicles and compete in a team against an enemy player squad. The goal is to capture and hold mission objectives or completely destroy the enemy.
Tactics & Teamwork: To win, you fire your tanks at the opponent. This is easy and intuitive with the touchscreen. To succeed, you also need to approach it tactically and as a team on your mobile. Even a massive heavy tank can quickly go down if it is flanked and takes too many hits to its less well-protected side and rear sections.
The 2nd World War and more
Wide selection of tanks: World of Tanks Blitz offers you the full range of vehicles from before, during, and shortly after World War II. Since this period represented the peak of tank development, there are over 250 vehicles to choose from in World of Tanks Blitz.
The tanks are divided into four classes:
- Light tanks are usually fast and agile, making them optimal for reconnaissance and capturing mission objectives. However, these small speedsters can quickly burst under fire.
- Medium tanks are often fast, agile, well-armed, but only lightly armored. Therefore, they are wonderful for flanking attacks.
- Heavy tanks are tough and difficult to damage from the front. They also have quite high firepower, but are usually quite sluggish. Such colossi belong directly on the front lines!
- Tank destroyers are usually well camouflaged and low-profile. They have extremely powerful guns but lack a turret and can only fire in the direction of travel.
Tank Research
Is it all like on the PC? The artillery self-propelled gun class from the PC version is missing in World of Tanks Blitz. Long-range guns would unfortunately be hard to operate on the small screen of a smartphone.
All tanks are assigned a level (in English “Tier”) that ranges from early tanks at Tier 1 to post-war vehicles at Tier 10.
The Progress System: After each round, you earn experience points and credits based on your performance. With this, you research new modules for your tank and purchase them. In this way, a weakly armed tank can acquire a stronger gun or a better engine. Once you have researched a tank far enough, you can buy a vehicle of a higher tier.
What does it all cost?
World of Tanks Blitz is free2play and therefore has in-app purchases. This allows you to obtain the in-game currency Gold, for which you can get premium game time for more experience or special ammunition with more firepower. The ammunition is clearly an advantage in the game, but you can also purchase it at any time for credits.
Cool detail: World of Tanks Blitz is also available on Apple devices and now also on PC. If you like, you can even play cross-platform, although PC players have clear advantages thanks to the larger screen and mouse control.
