With a new update for the shop, Blizzard has implemented new toys in World of Warcraft. These have interesting effects and even a nice bonus.
These toys are: As previously announced, there are now toys in the Blizzard shop. Recently, the first toys were implemented:
- the fireworks set “Lion’s Pride” and “Might of the Horde” (to the Blizzard shop)
- the Transmorpher beacon (to the Blizzard shop)
Both toys can be purchased for 10€ each and added to your toy box in WoW. This allows you access to the respective toys with all existing and future characters in the game.
What do the toys do? “Lion’s Pride” and “Might of the Horde” offer fireworks that do not get consumed. Each can take on three different forms with the themes of the Alliance and the Horde.
The Transmorpher beacon summons an Astral that you can interact with. (60-minute cooldown) With its dialogue option, it then transforms you into one of a total of 98 different dungeon or raid bosses from WoW for 20 minutes. You can find a complete list of possible transformations with the colleagues from wowhead.
As long as you are transformed, you will occasionally use the characteristic voice lines in battle. You will occasionally shout what the boss would shout in battle. The toys are particularly popular in groups with friends and the guild.
This is the bonus: Of the 10€ proceeds, 25% goes into the prize pool of the next Arena World Championships (PvP) and the next Mythic Dungeon Invitational (PvE), the two eSports events of World of Warcraft.
Blizzard promises a prize pool of at least $250,000 for both events, which can be increased by purchasing one of the toys by $2.50 each (the same price in euros). The promotion ends on October 15, 2019.
How the toys are received: Although the toys are well received by the community and especially the Transmorpher is popular, the reactions are rather negative. The community has several points of criticism:
- the Transmorpher has a 60-minute cooldown and the costume lasts only 20 minutes. One expects more from a purchased toy
- the Transmorpher does not work in battlegrounds or rated battlegrounds
- the screams of the boss costumes often disturb in real boss fights in raids
Additionally, it is criticized that only 25% of the proceeds go into the prize pool. It is great that eSports is supported in this way, but it seems many fans find it greedy that Blizzard keeps three-quarters of the profit for themselves.
What do you think of the toys?
