On the channel “Linus Tech Tips,” YouTuber Linus Sebastian built a PC that can handle almost any game effortlessly. However, his clients wanted the machine for a game that doesn’t actually require such power: Roblox.
What’s going on? On the YouTube channel “Linus Tech Tips,” outrageous PCs are regularly built, as Linus Sebastian himself emphasizes in his new video: “Building $10,000 gaming rigs is nothing unusual here – what our customer intends to do with it is what’s unusual.”
Normally, not many custom jobs would be done at Linus Tech Tips, but the YouTubers from TeraBrite Games had a challenge for him that he couldn’t refuse: “When they told me they needed an absolute, uncompromising, top-of-the-line machine for Roblox, I became curious.”
So the YouTuber started putting together the machine. How that looked is shown in the video:
What’s behind the $10,000 “Robloxinator”?
Here’s how the build went: In the video, it is clear how proud the YouTuber is of his hellish PC. The PC contains technology worth nearly $10,000. Among other things, Linus installed a Ryzen Threadripper. These processors can cost up to $3,990 – or nearly €4,000 (via geizhals.de).
Linus installs the Threadripper on a motherboard for nearly $900, as he says. And also a one of the coveted RTX 3090 graphics cards, which frequently makes headlines, is in the device.
More high-quality tech ends up in the case until the machine is complete. The YouTuber’s excitement while assembling is noticeable: “It’s such that I would normally build it into a rig, and then, as soon as the video is over, carefully take it apart again so we can use it for another project because this stuff doesn’t grow on trees.” This time, however, someone would actually rely on his creation every day.
“Until we got to the graphics card, it was easy to somehow forget that this is a Roblox computer,” he mentions before finishing his work: “But here we are. This is it. The Robloxinator.”
Can it run Roblox? Indeed yes! This shouldn’t be surprising, as Roblox doesn’t have high requirements for a PC. The YouTuber notes this too, when he tests the machine with the game and is initially confused that Roblox is apparently capped at 60 FPS. Only after using an extra program can he bypass this threshold and ultimately reach over 200 FPS.
Why do you need this machine for Roblox? Linus Sebastian also wondered this at the beginning of the video and explained that the computer is not solely for Roblox but will also be used as a video editing station. Accordingly, he also announces at the end of the video: “Well, guys, it seems to work. Have fun with your Roblox-crashing machine/video workstation.”
In fact, the video work is also related to Roblox. The clients from TeraBrite Games, who showcase a lot of Roblox on their YouTube channel, explain this in another video:
In fact, it’s not just a machine for playing Roblox, but also for presenting: “We hold a tournament every year, a competitive YouTube Roblox tournament. Every person can send in their perspective, audio, camera, and gameplay separately,” explains YouTuber SabrinaBrite in the video.
That’s a hell of a lot of data that then goes into editing – and which pushed their previous setup to its limits: “Even our current, very good computer had problems with the last tournament.” Therefore, they wanted to go all-in with the new PC so that they wouldn’t need to upgrade for a long time: “We’ll be needing a new PC for a long time.”
Here they seem to be looking forward to the new technology. Generally, modern hardware can significantly enhance the gaming experience. Sometimes it also has its quirks – as shown in this example with Warzone players and the DLSS technology.
