Navy CIS is one of the longest-running crime series in the world. It is so popular that there are now a total of six different spin-offs. Some of them have already concluded, while others are just starting. MeinMMO tells you whether they are worth watching.
How was this list created? Navy CIS has been running since 2003 on American television. Currently, the already 23rd season is airing overseas, which unfortunately has to wait a bit in Germany. In the over 20 years since its debut, the series has produced a total of six different spin-offs.
While most establish new teams at other locations and handle a criminal case per episode like the original, the top two placements are a direct continuation and a prequel. For the basic placements, we looked at user ratings on IMDb and included the series in the list accordingly.
Rank 6 – NCIS: Sydney
Starting off the list is NCIS: Sydney with an IMDb score of 6.2 out of 10 from 4,263 ratings. It began in 2021 and the third season will be aired starting in October 2025. In fact, NCIS: Sydney was the first NCIS series set outside the USA and is also produced with a local team.
The focus here is also on a team from NCIS that collaborates with the Australian Federal Police (AFP). In their cases, the team encounters wildlife smugglers and underwater drones. The series currently airs on Waipu.tv and can be completely streamed on Paramount+.
Rank 5 – NCIS: L. A.
NCIS: L. A. was the first series spin-off to Navy CIS. It kicked off with a two-episode season finale of the main series’ sixth season. Afterwards, there were a total of 14 seasons revolving around the investigative team in Los Angeles between 2009 and 2023. On IMDb, the series has a score of 6.8 from 59,835 ratings.
The focus of NCIS: L. A. is also on a colorful team of investigators with more or less tragic backstories, just like in the original. Each episode revolves around its own criminal cases related to the American Navy, but of course, there is also drama surrounding the team members. The series is currently live on several streaming platforms; it can be streamed for free on Joyn.
