The MMORPG Tarisland clearly has a tough time with western players. The Chinese operators Tencent and Level Infinite are now trying to entice you to register with various rewards – including an iPhone, an Android smartphone, and gift cards worth 100 US dollars.
Update from April 30, 2024: Via X, the team behind Tarisland is pleased to announce that they have gathered over a million pre-registrations for the MMORPG. This unlocks the milestone title Sharpsight for the community.
To celebrate this milestone, the developers are now giving away 20 Amazon gift cards worth 10 US dollars to anyone interested who retweets the initial tweet while tagging a friend and using the hashtag #TarisWorldPreregistration.
How does Tencent want to encourage me to register for Tarisland? The team behind the MMORPG is enticing players with milestones and a raffle for pre-registrations. The following milestones can be achieved by the community:
- Already achieved: Game package with useful in-game items
- From 1 million pre-registrations: Limited title Sharpsight
- From 1.5 million pre-registrations: Here, a shadowy figure can be seen, possibly a special skin
- From 3 million pre-registrations: Mysterious companion
- From 5 million pre-registrations: Mysterious mount
What about the raffle? Anyone interested can complete various tasks related to the pre-registration through the official website to increase their chances in a one-time raffle for a nice prize. You can enter the raffle until June 21, 2024.
A total of twelve participation attempts for the raffle are possible – here’s how you can increase your chances:
- Pre-register with your Level Infinite Pass account for Tarisland
- Participate in the so-called H5 events
- Recruit up to five friends
- Follow the official social media channels and visit the official Discord channel

By clicking on “One-time raffle,” you can actually check right away if you’ve won anything. The author of these lines has secured the title once and the pre-registration package four times.
Meaning: First come, first served. If all physical prizes are gone, you will no longer have a chance to win that particular prize.
Why is Tencent holding such a raffle? On one hand, this could be because Tarisland has not yet generated hype in the western market. The Chinese mega-corporation does not enjoy a very good reputation here. Additionally, Tarisland is set to release on mobile devices alongside PC and initially appears to be a blatant WoW clone.
Moreover, the shitstorm around the payment model that arose during one of the last testing phases was undoubtedly not very helpful either. The developers apparently have a different understanding of Pay2Win than large parts of the western community.
On the other hand, it has recently become clear that World of Warcraft will be returning to China. Without WoW, Tarisland would have faced a significant gap in its important home market, where it could have comfortably settled without competition.
Now, the MMORPG faces the massive task of somehow enticing players away from the WoW servers to the Tarisland servers in the long term – something that many other titles have failed to do over the years. Do you think the raffle can change this?
