The weapon tunings from SWTOR will not only be available from cartel packs in the future. All players should be able to obtain tunings through “regular gameplay”.
Weapon tuning soon available through “regular” gameplay
With its latest update, Star Wars: The Old Republic introduced a new way to customize. We have already explained how players can visually enhance their weapons with this feature in this article. The current concern among players regarding this feature is one thing: weapon tunings can only be obtained from cartel packs, making them very valuable.
This is therefore – more or less – a complete feature that is only available to buyers of cartel coins, i.e., those spending real money. It’s no wonder that many players have gathered in the forum to complain about this system. The community manager Eric Musco responded right away and answered some questions from the player base.
Are weapon tunings rarer than other rare items [in the cartel market]?
“Weapon tunings are just as common as other rare items in a pack. Sometimes there are particularly rare items, such as the unstable lightsaber, but weapon tunings are not among them. In the future, we will add particularly rare items to a new category: Platinum.”
Will weapon tunings only be available on the cartel market?
“Although we have introduced the system through the cartel market, we have plans for the future to implement weapon tunings that are not part of the cartel market. However, future packs on the market are likely to continue including weapons.”
Additionally, Musco promises that there will be more weapon models with slots in the future. Old weapons should also be able to be enhanced by tunings in the near future. Players are encouraged to suggest further weapons in the forum that should support this system.
