In Star Wars: The Old Republic there are first hints at a server merger. We have gathered all known details for you.
SWTOR soon on mega servers?
The data miners from the website TOR Community have extracted some interesting information from the game data, which leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Currently, it seems that PvP and PvE servers are to be replaced by so-called “PvP and PvE instances”. This is a term you find in many other games that use mega server technology.
According to the extracted in-game messages (which players would receive when switching instances), it is indicated that players can freely switch between PvP and PvE instances, depending on their mood. It seems that SWTOR is about to fundamentally change its server structure.
This theory is further fueled by the fact that a change is expected in how players can name their characters. Names will soon be allowed to contain spaces and consist of multiple words. This will require adjustments to several other systems, as whispering will also need to be modified in its current form.
The mentioned changes are expected to be introduced with patch 4.3.
Whether this will actually happen or if it is just a rumor remains to be seen.
