Fans are worried about the future of SWTOR because there have been many bugs lately. BioWare is trying to reassure.
SWTOR is a huge success
In recent months, players have increasingly expressed concerns that Star Wars: The Old Republic is on the “downhill” and that the game is being gradually phased out. The reason for this was mainly the release of the last story chapters of the current expansion “Knights of the Fallen Empire”. The chapters are too short for players and came with some annoying bugs that even completely prevented some players from playing the game. This raises the thought: BioWare is slowly phasing out the game, the time is up.
In the forum, BioWare strongly rejects these accusations and clearly states: SWTOR has a long future ahead. The game’s producer, Ben Irving, has written a fairly long post in the game’s forum. He said:
“In the eyes of all our partners, SWTOR is a huge success. BioWare supports the game. EA supports the game. Lucasfilm supports the game. Disney supports the game. The truth is that we receive overwhelming support for a game that is already 5 years old.”
This statement is further supported by the fact that work is already underway on content that will be released only after the last chapter – at the earliest, at the end of the year.
“The harder part, since you have to trust my word, is all the features and content we are already working on that we haven’t announced yet. […] You know how this works. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal any specific details, but we are already working on some REALLY cool things and can’t wait to finally present them.”
It’s even said that “Knights of the Fallen Empire” is the most successful expansion of the game ever. And there’s no reason to phase out the game now – the next few years are therefore more or less a done deal.
