Traveling in SWTOR becomes significantly more enjoyable. The trip to the personal spaceship is eliminated with Patch 5.2.
Over the years, Star Wars: The Old Republic has grown quite a bit. Initially starting with just a few planets, the game has expanded enormously through numerous expansions and content patches. This has significantly increased the number of available planets and thus destinations on the galactic map.
For BioWare, Patch 5.2 “War for Iokath” was the occasion to overhaul the star map and add new functionalities. Above all, fast traveling through the galaxy is now easier when suitable perks and legacy benefits have been unlocked.
To access the new galaxy map, a personal spaceship is required – which can be obtained very early in the game. The new features include:
- The galaxy map can be opened anywhere.
- If already possessing fast travel, the player can fast travel to their own ship from anywhere.
- With the priority transport perks, you can travel directly to the corresponding locations without credit costs.
- The priority transport abilities still function as before, but now have no cooldown.
- Fast travel can now be used in the ship’s hangar.
This should make traveling through the SWTOR game world significantly faster – but players will likely still have to endure the long loading screens.
