The horror survival game The Forest has been available on PC for some time now. There is finally new information about the PS4 release.
The Forest is a survival game that started its alpha on PC on May 30, 2014. Since then, the game has been in early access. Back then, there was talk of a release on PlayStation 4. However, it then went quiet for years, and there was no news about The Forest’s PS4 release.
At the PlayStation Experience 2017, however, the PS4 version for 2018 was unexpectedly announced.
The Forest aims to become a brutal horror Minecraft
In The Forest, you play a harmless family man who crashes on a mysterious island during a flight with his son. However, shortly after, your son is abducted by a strange figure. To find him and uncover the island’s secret, you must first satisfy your needs for food and, in true survival fashion, build structures and items.
The building system is particularly well done. You first create a blueprint and then carry the necessary resources to the construction site. Later, you can explore the dark forests of the island and disturb dreadful monsters in deep caves.
The creatures are truly grotesque and look like deformed mutants. Additionally, these beasts will hunt you at night, so finding a safe refuge is a must! According to the developers, Minecraft served as inspiration here.
Co-op multiplayer with up to 8 players
If you like, you can experience The Forest as a joint adventure. In multiplayer mode, you can explore the island with up to 7 other players and withstand the monsters. Teamwork is especially useful when building, as all players can see the blueprint at the construction site and deliver components.
This way, powerful fortresses quickly arise in the forest. You can also play through the story together and uncover the horrific secret of the island.
The Forest Release: The game will be released for PlayStation 4 in the second quarter of 2018.
