What kind of game is this? In Don’t Starve Together, the name says it all. You are thrown into a vast, procedurally generated map and must somehow survive together with up to five other players. You have to pay attention not only to basic needs like hunger or heat and cold but also to your mental health; otherwise, you will be attacked by your own nightmares.
The longer you survive, the harder the game becomes, as it sends nightmare hounds or other creatures after you that you must fend off. If you die, you can resurrect yourself using special items or locations on the map—provided someone from your friends is still alive.

Why is it so popular? Although Don’t Starve Together has been around for nine years, which feels like a century in video game history, tens of thousands of players still fight for survival daily.
This is partly due to the regular updates and events that continue to be added to the game, bringing new bosses, skins, and NPCs. All of these updates are free. You can only purchase characters or cosmetic items for real money or unlock them eventually.
At the same time, Don’t Starve Together has a gigantic modding community that offers new characters with unique abilities or smaller improvements. Party until the campfire burns
The biggest fun factor is logically the coop mode. Just by dividing tasks and collecting resources and items together, the extremely difficult game becomes a bit easier and simultaneously more chaotic. It can easily happen that the entire camp burns down or is visited by tree giants when the coop partner doesn’t pay attention during woodcutting.
And even if you die together and have to start a new world, there are usually thousands of ideas for what can be done new and differently in the next “run,” making frustration quickly forgotten.
I currently have no friends; can I play it alone? Theoretically, you can also play Don’t Starve Together alone or invite a coop partner after some time. Just keep in mind that you cannot enter the game world without the host. So there is always someone who owns the world.
