Jeff Kaplan has revealed some new details about upcoming content from Overwatch . The Summer Games will start soon.
In a Developer Update, the Game Director of Overwatch talked about the coming months. He was only really specific in a few cases, but he has already made some statements that are useful. The Summer Games will start soon. However, a new hero that many players are expecting will not be available until later.
Summer Games are coming earlier than expected: Normally, the Summer Games in Overwatch always start in early to mid-August. Last year, they began around August 8. However, in 2019, this is supposed to be different. The Summer Games are expected to start “significantly earlier” than in previous years. This means that we can likely expect the Summer Games within the next one to two weeks. This means new skins, but also the return of Lucio Ball.
Summer Games bring 3 free, epic skins: New for the Summer Games 2019 will be that there will be three epic skins “for free”. These will be awarded in the form of small “mini challenges” over the course of three weeks. Each week, there will be a skin to earn. Kaplan has not yet revealed the requirements for this. However, they are based on the other challenges, like with Baptiste – there, nine victories were needed, regardless of the mode.
The next hero still needs: At the same time, Kaplan revealed that the next hero for Overwatch will need a bit more time. “Hero #31” has been in development for some time and, according to Kaplan, will be “fantastic”. However, it will be released “a little later”. Kaplan emphasizes the “he,” which suggests that hero 31 will probably be a man. A possible candidate could be Mauga.
Finally, Kaplan promises that there will soon be more Developer Updates. Many things will be discussed there that “players will be excited about.” So, it remains exciting.
Are you looking forward to the Summer Games 2019? Are you also a fanatical fan of Lúcio Ball? Or are the events starting to annoy you?
