Throughout the anime Dragon Ball, Son-Goku has reached many Saiyan levels. Not only does his hairstyle change, but so does his power level. However, we rarely see a less known form of the Saiyan that you probably can’t remember.
What form is it? Usually, when Son-Goku and the other Saiyans transform into a Super Saiyan, their hair stands upright and turns blonde. Additionally, they acquire a green eye color.
In the form that KawaiDB discovered on Twitter, there is none of that. Son Goku’s hair is standing up, and he seems to have an aura, but his hair and eyes are black.
This is a special form called “Saiyajin Power.” This is a special form where Son-Goku becomes a Super Saiyan without transforming visually. It is suspected that this might either be a precursor to the Super Saiyan or an even stronger form where the user does not need to transform visually.
Perhaps this form will even appear in Dragon Ball Daima. You can watch the appropriate trailer here:
Where does the form appear? The form has already made several appearances in the anime and in the video game. So far, it has appeared in the following series, movies, and games:
- In the movie Dragon Ball Z – The Movie: Super Saiyan Son-Goku
- In the video game Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission (as a card)
- In the anime Dragon Ball GT
KawaiDB thinks that the form is due to a correction by Toei Animation. In one scene, Son-Goku fights against the Ginyu Force in the afterlife. Originally, he was supposed to be drawn as a Super Saiyan, but at the last minute, the writers revised it, and his hair was once again colored black.
Even on the cards that the user shows, Son-Goku is seen with a halo. Possibly, this form indeed relates to the correction made by the production studio.
Will the form appear again in the future? Currently, Dragon Ball continues with Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Daima. We cannot say for sure whether the Saiyan form will appear again in any way. However, it is possible that it will show up in one of the two formats.
In Dragon Ball Daima, Son-Goku and his friends will again shrink to child size. The focus of the anime is said to be on martial arts and not on spectacular AI attacks. The release is planned for autumn 2024.
Dragon Ball Super is currently telling the events from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The next arc is likely to start in 2024. It seems to continue with Black Freezer.
