He spent 24 hours with his VR headset on in Minecraft. In the game, that’s 72 days. How does the body react to the fact that days pass much faster when one isolates their head from reality?
This is what the streamer did: The YouTuber Apollow demonstrates his experiment on the YouTube channel of Disrupt. He wanted to try out what happens to the body after spending 24 hours in a VR game. He even slept with the headset on, and the first thing he saw upon waking up was the VR world.
He set a rule for the 24-hour challenge that his headset would always stay on his head. He then published his results on YouTube in an 11-minute video, detailing how the experiment affected his body.
Why did he choose this VR game? For his project, he chose Minecraft-VR because he finds many engaging activities there. This way, he wouldn’t get bored during the stream.
24 hours in the real world equals 72 days in Minecraft. The YouTuber wanted to find out what it feels like to experience so many days virtually while real time passes slower.
Maybe he’ll choose an MMORPG for his next attempt?
How did the stream go? At first, Apollow had problems with controlling Minecraft, resulting in several deaths of his character. However, he later got the hang of it and built houses.
During his stream, he took three breaks, which he used for sleeping.
- Two breaks lasted about 2 hours
- one break was longer, during which he slept for 4 hours
Throughout this time, the headset and VR goggles remained on his head. He fell asleep with the VR world in front of his eyes and woke up to it as well.

According to his experiences, only the first few seconds after waking up are strange. “You wonder where you are,” says the streamer. But then the mind quickly switches back, and you continue from where you left off before falling asleep.
A problematic aspect of sleeping was that he placed the chicken farm in the game near the bed. Falling asleep under the clucking was a challenge.
Didn’t he feel sick while doing this? Apollow didn’t experience such negative effects. The exception was riding the boat in Minecraft. The small wooden vehicles are incredibly fast on water in Minecraft, which made him feel a bit sick.
This is how the stream ended: The last hour of the stream was the hardest. After all, he streamed for 24 hours and was on his feet for 16 of those. For the final moments, the streamer gathered fireworks and shot the rockets into the air to celebrate his achievement.
