Stranger Things premiered in 2016 and within 9 years, 5 seasons have been released. The last season just started at the end of November 2025. In the series by the Duffer brothers, the residents of Hawkins have been confronted with several monsters that come from the Upside Down.
How was the ranking created? We looked at the monsters from the series and ranked them based on their abilities. Since the monsters did not fight against each other, we weighed their strength according to the power displayed.

5. The Flying Monsters
What are the flying monsters? Like almost all monsters on this list, the flying monsters (also known as Demobats by fans) come from Dimension X and the Upside Down. They are about the size of large dogs, have wings and a longer tail, which they can also use specifically to grasp prey. Their heads have no eyes, but a mouth with countless small teeth.
Their skin seems to be the same as that of the Demogorgons, which suggests they are related as a species. They usually appear in large swarms and are perfect for monitoring the Upside Down.
One single flying monster can be easily defeated, but a whole swarm is quite dangerous, as they can coordinate and attack purposefully through their collective consciousness. A swarm of these monsters killed the character Eddie in Season 4 after he had lured them away from Dustin.
