In the MOBA DOTA 2 (Steam), an incident shakes the global community of players on reddit. The Russian professional player, Andrew “Kom4rt” Ivanchikov (22), told a teammate to take a cue from the streamer “SexyBamboe” and kill himself. Players are demanding a permanent ban for the pro.
This caused a stir: A screenshot from a DOTA 2 game was posted on reddit:
- In the screenshot, the Russian pro player Kom4rt tells the Twitch streamer xcaliburye that he is the bad player in Dota 2. He should take a cue from SexyBamboe and kill himself.
- This causes a lot of outrage on reddit.
- Some players demand that Valve permanently bans the pro player to set an example.
What makes the case so sensitive? The statement is widely regarded as extremely tasteless and even described as atrocious.
People are irritated that a human being, “SexyBamboe,” who passed away in December 2021, is being dragged into this, as his family requested not to speculate about his cause of death (via dotesports).
SexyBamboe played for numerous teams from 2011 to 2021, later becoming a professional caster and was popular among many DOTA 2 players.
The fact that the Russian pro now instrumentalizes his death in this way as an insult is very upsetting to many DOTA 2 fans.
Even hardcore MOBA players find the statement too far
What is the reaction? The players of DOTA 2 are considered tough, but the flame goes too far for many of them, especially since a popular Twitch streamer, XcaliburYe, is insulted:
- “The guy has earned in his life with DOTA as much as Xcalibur makes in 2 weeks on Twitch” – Kom4rt has earned about 4,460 $ with DOTA (via esportearnings).
- “I know I can annoy in DOTA 2 too, but I would never have even thought about something like that. The guy deserves a perma-ban.”
- “This is not flame, the shit is atrocious”
- “Talking about suicide is already a stupid thing, but dragging SexyBamboe into it crosses the line far. This guy should get a permaban from Valve to set an example.”
