In the MMORPG Oldschool Runescape (Steam), a player has invested 20,000 hours to achieve a very special goal: He leveled a character with a minimum combat level of 3 to maximum skill points in all other skills. But in doing so, he made enemies… and among those enemies was probably the wrong one.
What did the player achieve? We reported about it on MeinMMO on Tuesday:
- The player Diddleboy has invested 20,000 hours into his hero to bring all skills to the maximum value – except for the combat skills. That’s more than 2 years of pure life.
- This is somewhat a “Pacifist” run, a very special achievement.
- The player was extremely proud of this success – perhaps too proud.
Player is so proud of his achievement that he belittles others who try to imitate him
That was his mistake: Diddleboy was so proud of his success that he has stood out in the Runescape community in recent years by belittling and attacking others who wanted to emulate him.
Because in his eyes he was the only one who had also brought the “Slayer” skill to the maximum value, he called himself the “one true MAX skiller.” All others who also called themselves Max skiller were not TRUE pure skillers, only he was.
Diddleboy had the reputation in the Runescape community of showing up every time another “Max Skiller” was created, to verbally reprimand and classify them.
Moreover, he said some changes in Runescape would devalue his achievements. He had spent thousands of hours in the museum to achieve the maximum value in “Slayer.” If the developers now introduce other ways to increase the value, that devalues his hard work.
Rogue takes account because it was too weakly secured
This is what happened to him now: Apparently, Diddleboy made some enemies through this behavior in the community, and one of them seized his account. Diddleboy was thrown out of Runescape in the middle of the game and could no longer log in: The system informed him that his password was incorrect.
Diddleboy apparently used the same password for all accounts on the internet: his Discord name spelled backwards. And one of his “enemies” guessed correctly.
Hacker defaces “pure” account by killing mobs
What is the cruel punishment now? That the account was gone was known since yesterday. Now it has become known that the hacker actually “ruined” the account by increasing the combat skills to 38.
The character is now no longer “pure,” but defaced.
On reddit, some users comment on this with a lot of mockery:
- It is said: “The man is now the highest-ranging level 38!”
- Another adds: “What a super nice account thief, helps the owner level his stats while he tries to get to his account. How nice!”
According to reports on reddit, Diddleboy became the target of this attack because he made himself “a target” with his behavior.
Whether the player from Jagex will get his account back and whether he will be “pure” again remains to be seen.
