Endlight has just landed on Steam and is one of the craziest games we have ever seen. The title can only be played once a year – if you’re out of luck, you might never play it again. MeinMMO reveals what this crazy title is all about.
What is Endlight about? In Endlight, we fly through a crazy world as a vaguely defined object, resembling an abstract art painting. The bizarre 3D landscapes constantly change and can be destroyed by us by flying against them.
The game offers 100 levels. In each level, the goal is to collect the ten golden rings by flying through them. Every month there are supposed to be 25 additional free levels until the game has a total of 500 levels.
The trailer gives a good impression of what a quirky game Endlight is:
Why can it only be played once a year? Each level can only be played once. Once you finish it, there is no way to reactivate the levels.
However, once a year there is a chance to reactivate the levels for another playthrough. On December 9, 2023, there will be a special challenge that players – you guessed it – can only play once.
If they succeed in the challenge, they receive a coupon, allowing them to play each of the 100+ levels again. The coupon is valid for one year. However, if they fail the challenge, the chance is lost, and players have to wait another year for the challenge.
By the way: There are currently several games on sale on Steam, as the colleagues from GameStar report in an article. You can also play these more than once.
The developer Jim McGinley believes that many players will hate him for this. But he hopes that there are some who share his humor and see the coupon as a special reward that is not available in any other game (via pcgamer.com).
McGinley has ensured that you can’t cheat: Changing the time on your PC or manipulating data in any other way won’t help you regain access to the levels.
So Endlight may not be for every one of you, as it requires a very quirky sense of humor.
Where can you buy the game? If you still like the title, you can buy Endlight on Steam with a 20% release discount. Thanks to the discount, the game costs only €12.63 instead of €15.79.
As of August 4, 2023, you will have to pay the normal price on Steam again.
