Valve regularly brings small but fine improvements for the Steam client. With the latest update, you can not only sync your shopping cart across multiple devices but also hide games that not everyone should see. Is your favorite game too embarrassing for everyone to see? Then you can hide it now.
You can now hide purchases and games on Steam
What does this bring? From now on, you can hide which games you buy or which games you are currently playing on Steam. This is especially useful for people who want to play titles that are somewhat embarrassing publicly.
If you start a game that your friends shouldn’t see, you can hide it from now on. Your friends will not see whether and when you start the game or when you earn achievements.
Do you have a weakness for Hentai? Or have you never dared to buy a “special” title because you were embarrassed in front of your friends? Then you can buy and play those now without anyone on your friends list seeing it.
How does it work?
- You go to your library and right-click on the game.
- Then go to the manage tab and click on “Mark as private.”
- Now the game is “private”. In the same way, you can set the game back to “normal”.
If you buy a new game, you can directly select the note “For my account: Private” in the shopping cart.

- Inline gifts: Buy gifts for multiple friends at once with just one transaction and with optimized notifications for a smooth purchase process.
- A shopping cart on all devices: Your shopping cart is now seamlessly synced across all devices you log in on (including Steam Deck and mobile devices), ensuring a consistent shopping experience no matter where you buy your games or software.
When you now put a game in your shopping cart, you will also see a new interface and can confirm again that you really want to buy the game.
