What kind of game is this? Phantom Line (PC) is a coop shooter that will be available on Steam and can be played with up to four players. You are elite soldiers working for the mega-corporation “Mortfield Industries.”
Your special unit is responsible for the investigation of anomalies, which are unexplained events. In your latest mission, “Mortfield Industries” sends you to one of their research facilities in Eastern Europe, as contact with this facility has been lost.
The anomalies are strange creatures that attack you and cause rifts in the fabric of space-time. However, the region in which Phantom Line is set not only struggles with anomalies but also with political tensions. A nuclear war has broken out and has shrouded the city in a post-apocalyptic landscape.

What distinguishes the game? During the Future Games Show Gamescom 2024, the developers revealed (via YouTube) what the inspiration behind the open-world game is: “Phantom Line was born out of love for tactical shooters, survival games, and immersive simulations.”
Phantom Line will be a kind of survival shooter. However, the developers also made it clear that they consciously chose to forego some typical gameplay elements from survival games:
“We have played hours upon hours of multiplayer survival games, and we love the exploration challenges, but we were tired of starving every few minutes. We want the core of the experience to be the preparation for the journey.”
Food gathering is an important part of games like ARK: Survival Ascended or Sons of the Forest. In Phantom Line, however, the focus is supposed to be on hunting anomalies.
What do we know about the release? Phantom Line is set to be released for PC on Steam, but no official release date has been announced yet. However, it has been noted that an announcement is coming soon on Steam.
Since the game is being developed by a very small team, the full release may still take some time. An early access phase is also conceivable.
A console release is currently not known.
Who is the game interesting for? Phantom Line could be interesting for fans of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. due to its post-apocalyptic setting in Eastern Europe. In S.T.A.L.K.E.R., you also fight against strange creatures with firearms and have to secure your survival in a hostile, dark world.
However, it is expected that the successor to the legendary survival shooter will be released before Phantom Line. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been postponed several times, most recently in July, but it is still aiming for a release in 2024: Fans have been waiting for over 14 years for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 – now it seems to be delayed even further than announced
