Palworld has become a surprise hit on Steam. However, those without a PC have only been able to experience the game on the XBOX Series X|S until now. Now, the game is supposed to be released on PS5, but the hints about it were quickly deleted.
What kind of leak was that? On x.com, the social media account of the gaming news website Gematsu.com shared a table with all the participants of the Tokyo Game Show 2024. The Tokyo Game Show is one of the largest and most important gaming fairs in the world. In 2023, nearly 250,000 people attended the fair.
For many developers from Asia, the fair is significant and an opportunity to present their major news. The developer studio Pocketpair, behind Palworld, will also be showcasing their games there.
In the shared table from Gematsu.com on x.com, the entry for Palworld can be found on page 30. The table also lists all available platforms. Surprisingly, PlayStation 5 is also listed for Palworld. For many fans, this means that a release on Sony’s console is just a matter of time. But everything could turn out differently.
The big Sakurajima update has brought a whole new island to Palworld:
The hints have been deleted
Why is this no longer so certain? The table containing the crucial hint has been changed. However, if you check the table now, the entry for Palworld only lists Steam and Xbox Series X|S. The entry for PlayStation 5 has been removed.
There are several scenarios that could explain this. On one hand, the responsible developers might have requested the correction because they want to keep their major announcement for the fair a secret. This is likely, as even large companies like Rockstar Games don’t want leaks and even released their trailer for GTA 6 earlier because of this.
On the other hand, it is also conceivable that the fair itself made a mistake and that Palworld will not announce a PS5 version at the Tokyo Game Show either.
What is known about the PS5 version? It has been known for a long time that the developers of Palworld have been working on a PS5 version, and this was also confirmed by Shuhei Yoshida, former president of PlayStation, with a simple “Yes” regarding the release on the console.
Whether Palworld will delight players with a PS5 release for its birthday at the beginning of next year is not certain as of now. The Tokyo Game Show from September 26 to September 29 will likely reveal whether everything was just a mistake or if the release has indeed been leaked.
